2014 Recap

On the 5th of March 2013 I recieved the gift of a life, a double lung transplant. I had been waiting my whole life (well as long as transplants have been around, anyway) for the surgery that could change my life. The operation and recovery was extremely difficult both mentally and physically but somehow I found the strength to get through it all and 3 months later I was at home with my new lungs. It took me about a month to regain enough strength to start going out and even then it was only short trips to the shops. By August I had started to go out more and more and by the end of the year I was driving by myself and building my confidence in "The real world"

Medical Miracles

This month Discovery Health have featured me online as well as in their magazine. I have been with this medical aid for quite a few years now and without them, my transplant wouldn't have been possible!

#LoveChange

"I want to tag Fawn from Deer Delights to share her #LoveChange story.  If you dont know, I met Fawn at her #ChariTea event on Woman’s Day.  The event was in aid of The South African Organ Donor Foundation, a charity very close to Fawn’s heart (or lungs as the case may be), as she is an organ donor recipient!"  - Gina A Bit Of This A Bit Of That

High Tea at The Saxon

"High Tea in our Piano Lounge is an elegant ritual and one of the Saxon’s specialities. It is perfect for taking time out to sit back and enjoy a glass of sparkling wine to start your afternoon of indulgence. As the perfect accompaniment, our tea sommelier prepares aromatic blends of teas ranging from black, green and herbal teas, to the rooibos and fynbos varieties."

8 Healthy Habits That Are Actually Harming You

I found this article on Mind Body Green and I thought it had some really great points. Everyone I know does at least one of these things, it's not a big problem but what is, is when they think that they are being healthy while doing it. Everyone is on a different diet or eating plan and people stick to what works - there is no universal diet that is good for everyone! However, at the end of the day I'm sure that we can all agree that eating "clean" (whole, unprocessed foods) is the healthiest option for your body.

#ZomatoAtPappas

It all started with the unveiling of Pappas in Kelvin in October 1987, by founder Athos Pappas, who saw the need for a family friendly Mediterranean offering, with a leaning towards home-style Cypriot and Greek cuisine. Not afraid to adapt to the trends and shifting times, Pappas moved four times over the last 20 years, before settling in Sandton, the business hub of Africa, in 1997. Athos dreamt of keeping the restaurant as a family  business, and did so by handing over the reins to his children Ria and Evros and son in-law, Charles de Olim, in the late 2000’s. (Athos now resides in Cyprus where he continues the tradition of orthodox priesthood in his family. Papa means priest/father in Greek).

McNab's Feel Good {Giveaway}

Last week I was introuduced to Mc'Nabs Feel Good products. I was invited to their offices at The Energy Works in Parkwood which was Jozi’s first true eco-building. In addition to being a great place in which to make stuff that helps other people feel good, it collects its own rain water and generates its own electricity so it’s kinder to the earth.

Zomato Foodie Meet-up

Photo by Lungi
Last week I was invited by the Zomato team to join them and a couple of other foodies for a dinner meet-up at Rockets. I was pretty excited because as you all know I am a huge Zomato fan and use their platform to review any restaurant I go to.
