Paint Nite

I've been wanting to do Paint Nite for a while now and on Sunday, I finally got to go and experience this fun event!

Shani, her drink and me ;)
Shani and I eagerly arrived at The Baron on Main, drinks in hand we were ready to get our creativity on!

Paint Nite® is about making art accessible to people who don't consider themselves artists or creative in any way. Paint Nite is about fostering a fun, low stress, non-judgmental environment that inspires everyone to enjoy the process of creating something from nothing. We want the anxiety that people may feel about doing something “wrong”, to be displaced by a fun night of socializing with friends and having a relaxing, creative time. For many customers, Paint Nite will be a novel and memorable experience, as many have not touched a paint brush since elementary school.

The painting we were going to be doing was a colourful sunset, with a pair of love birds in a tree. We were guided step by step by the artist, Andrea and in between the steps the music was turned up and we were left to socialise and paint. I loved how relaxing the process was, it's not like an art class where silence is mandatory and every brush stroke is carefully calculated. There was absolutely no judgement and unless we asked for help, Andrea didn't hover over us telling us what to do.

It took us about 2 hours from start to finish and then we faffed around, finished our drinks and made our way home with our new art in hand.

Me half way through
Another great thing about Paint Nite is that everything is provided and set up for you which makes the process evern more stress free. Tickets are R550 which inculdes everything except your drinks. However, go follow Paint Nite on Facebook and Twitter and keep an eye out for their specials, they often offer up to 45% off!

Shani and I had such a great time and we both left agreeing that we absolutly must do another Paint Nite soon! So if you're looking for a fun and different way to socialise with friends then I definietely recommend trying this concept out. You'll love it!
