WOMEN AROUND THE WORLD REALIZE THE CHOICE TO FEEL BEAUTIFUL IS A PERSONAL POWER THEY HAVE EVERY DAY
Last week I was invited to the launch of the Dove #ChooseBeautiful campaign. I brought along my good friend Bianca and we had a great morning listening to an empowering speaker as well as catching up on personal chit chat ;)
Dove's new short film aims to inspire women to reconsider the choices they make about their beauty and in my opinion it certainly does that!
A staggering 96% of women do not choose the word ‘beautiful’ to describe how they look.Dove believes feeling beautiful is a personal choice women should feel empowered to make for themselves, every day.
“Although the majority of women don’t describe themselves as beautiful, 80% agree that every woman has something about her that is beautiful. It’s time women think differently about this choice,” said Steve Miles, Senior Vice President, Dove. “Dove Choose Beautiful urges women to embrace this choice, and inwardly challenge our tendency to not ‘choose beautiful’ because when we do it unlocks happiness and confidence that impacts women’s self-esteem.”
“While we were filming, it was so clear that the women who chose to feel beautiful shined with a positive, empowered outlook,” said Paul Dektor, Film Director of Dove Choose Beautiful. “We all have the personal and powerful ability to rise above others’ points of view, social media, and pop culture. I hope the Dove Choose Beautiful film inspires women around the world to reconsider how they view their own beauty.”
After a delicious breakfast at the stunning The View Boutique Hotel in Auckland Park, we had life coach Paula Facci talk to us. Paula chatted to us about why woman don't like to call themselves beautiful and went through the psychology of it all. We then did a little workshop activity where we wrote down what we don't like about ourselves. A few ladies shared their stories which was very powerful.
It's amazing how hard we are on ourselves and seeing beautiful ladies at the launch talk about their insecurities really highlighted this. We then wrote down an affirmation for ourselves, something postitive that we wanted to remind ourselves of every day.
One of the affirmations I wrote down was - "You are not perfect, but NOBODY is"
We were also given some tips on how to 'CHOOSE BEAUTIFUL" every day -
Dove has long been committed to creating a world where beauty is a source of confidence, not anxiety. Dove hopes to inspire women to develop a positive relationship with beauty, becausewhen women recognize the beauty in themselves, they then have a powerful ability to positively impact the next generation. The brand has set a goal of reaching 15 million young lives with self-esteem programming by the end of 2015 and has reached over 14 million to date.
Thank-you Dove for a lovely morning and for making us all feel beautiful!
I hope everyone reading this takes a few minutes to think about which door they would walk through. If it's not the beautiful door then WHY NOT? Use some of the above tips to help improve your confidence, because YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL
