Zomato at Escondido

So as you may have noticed, I have really been neglecting my blog lately. This is not due to a lack of things to blog about but rather due to a lack of time. "I just don't have any time" is a fairly poor excuse as I believe that if you really want to do something you will make time. So basically, I have just been lazy and I'm sorry!

Anyway, a while ago, Zomato treated me and a few other foodies to a wonderful dinner at Escondido Tapas Bar and Restaurant, located at 30 Rudd Road, Ilovo.

What a hidden gem!! "Escondido" is a Spanish word meaning "hidden"  so the name is very apt. (thanks to The Joburg Foodie for telling me this ;) As soon as you can walk in you can feel the passion of the owners in every corner. From the hand written menus which change constantly, to the wine dispalys which rotate in order of which country they are show casing.

If you are a true lover of food and wine then pricing need not matter because this place is amazing! The food selection is out of this world and eash dish is very creative. Everything you order will have a twist to it which is exactly what all food lovers are looking for. Experiencing new food and being able to discuss the dishes in a social enviroment makes for a great night out.

The wine stock they have on hand is incredible and they are more than happy to help you pair. In short, if you love your wine, you will love Escondido.

There are a varitey of seating areas whoch is always nice. In the private dining area you are surrounded by wine and can peer through the kitchen. Such an amazing spot for an intimate dinner party. If you're in the general seating area, the quirky yet sophisticated atmoshere is just great.

I'm no food photographer but I think my photos of a few of the dishes we tried speak for themselves:

There is so much culture at this restuarant and that's something I am always happy to see in Joburg. We live in such a metropolitan city that it's great to be able to get away from it all in a wonderful place like this.

I rated them 4.5/5 on Zomato and you can read my review HERE

Give them a follow on Facebook and Twitter
